Kevin, so great to see you last week. The things we talked about really got me thinking. For one, about a person’s appearance. I’ve always hated on manufactured looks, looks that said to me, “I want to be ‘this’ so I’m putting together the uniform. I know that everybody’s selling some image, but Urban Outfitters, American Apparel and H&M, it’s too in my face. And, not only are people given a style, they are also given a lifestyle, a watered-down lifestyle.
Anyway, I wanted to look like the rock stars I idolized as a child but it was tough. My grandma had to paint me a Manowar shirt with a sword dripping blood on the back. Today, you can buy whatever shirt you want. It’s easy like that.
Hanging out at Union Square the other day, I must have seen 40 kids looking exactly like Kanye West, granted none of them were wearing the Louis Vuitton driving shoes but I could tell where their style came from. This relates to the question we discussed ‘what is identity?’ Have times always been the same and in the States in the 80’s those same kids looking like Kanye West today, would have worn stone washed jeans and a football jersey?
Who am I? Is there someone in the world with nearly the same wardrobe as me, who has the same education, grew up in the same neighborhood? Is everyone an individual and some choose to forsake that beautiful uniqueness from the ever-present pressure to conform? Is that conformation part of our uniqueness or exclusive of it?

What does it mean to have your identity stolen? It’s a hassle, sure. It may cost you a lot of time and money. And, it’s just plain scary. How could someone do this to another person? Well, not how, because we have all heard horror stories of someone digging through another’s trash, finding old bank statements or other non-shreded confidential documents. But, still, how could someone do this? Well, people do rotten things sometimes but at least stealing another’s identity used to require some footwork. In the digital age though, someone can steal your identity rather easily because you’ve already almost given it away.
A group of New Yorkers have made an interactive Web TV series that will premiere this Fall. The show is called Deleted: the Game. While there are TV shows that you sit and watch and maybe discuss later with friends and co-workers, the experience of watching the show is passive. Then there are on-line games where players actively participate. Deleted: the Game, is an original web TV show that combines these two forms of entertainment. The destiny of the characters is in your, the viewer’s, hands. Check out the website to find out about the characters, and while you’re doing this don’t forget to check out yourself, the main character. While the show will be a lot of fun, it’ll be tough to get away from the questions of What is identity? Does a person have multiple identities? and What does it mean to lose one’s identity?

wow. i’m suprised nobody commented on this yet! i think about identity all the time. as an actor it is on the forfront of my mind for most of my day. how does my apperance or swagger or style influence how the sea of people see me and in turn how i see myself by the effect i have on them. great question Albin! hyped to see the show!

Jurors in US R&B star R Kelly’s child pornography trial have watched the sex video at the centre of the case.
On the opening day of the trial in Chicago, prosecutors played the video of a man having sex with a young woman.
Prosecution lawyers allege the “vile” video is of Mr Kelly and a girl who was as young as 13 when it was filmed.
Mr Kelly denies filming himself having sex with an underage girl and his lawyer said the video showed neither him nor the alleged victim.
