My first instinct after shooting this photo and walking away was to call my brother and tell him, “Remember that guy who I showed you the documentary of who you loved, who you said if you ever met Jake Phelps you’d want to hurt him because you thought that that dude took advantage of this guy when he was younger?” Instead, I started to tear up, and pretty much skipped back to my apartment and scanned this photo to share with you.

I had just run about seven miles, took a bath, sat down to write but I was light-headed from not eating so I walked to the grocery store, oblivious of what was going on around me, went over and over how I am going to begin a bio I have to write on myself. I’ve written two versions and I don’t like either.

I did my shopping and I’m walking back on Mulberry Street, thinking I could start off my bio with something like, “Albin Sikora has always gotten to hang out with his heroes…” Then I was like, “Are they my heroes because I got to hang out with them or did I get to meet my heroes and then get to hang out with them. And, would anyone even know who Michael J. Inwood and Fergus Kerr, O.P. are?” As I mentally nixed this idea I looked up to see these two eating pasta on my block.

Now, I didn’t get to hang out with them, just got to interrupt their dinner and shake their hands. But, I’m so hyped that I’m not even hungry anymore and I’ve got some energy to do my work.
